Five things to do in Brentwood

With staycations replacing vacations this year, what better time to discover your local surroundings. With the introduction of three vehicles to Brentwood this month, we have gathered five must see places in the area. Whether you like stunning views, interesting tours, or relaxing at animal sanctuary’s, our list covers it all.

  • Hopefield animal sanctuary

Hopefield Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit organisation caring for around 500 sick, unwanted and mistreated animals. The sanctuary is based in Brentwood, Essex. They care for a variety of animals including horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs etc. and more exotic animals such as reptiles, parrots and other aviary birds, raccoons and many more.

  • Thorndon Country Park

This beautiful country park contains a diverse range of habitats and is managed both for people and for its precious wildlife. There are some fantastic walks through ancient woodland and historic deer parks which lie close alongside recently planted woodland and a landscape of small pastures. It is also home to the original Gruffalo Trail - a self-led trail around the woods, searching for carvings of the Gruffalo characters.

  • Warley place nature reserve

Visit this secret gem, near the Old Ford HQ at Warley. A fantastic open space walk with different, and interesting things to see. The information boards are placed at appropriate intervals, providing very interesting facts relating to the history of the family who once lived on the site and the building they occupied.

  • Brentwood Brewing Co

Brentwood Brewery is an award-winning microbrewery in Essex run by a family with a passion for making and drinking the finest craft beer. A wide range of quality real ales in cask, keg and bottles are available from the Brewery Shop as well as tours, brewery experience days and beer festival services.

  • Brentwood Cathedral

The Cathedral Church of SS Mary and Helen in Brentwood is a modern Roman Catholic cathedral designed by architect Quinlan Terry in the style of the early Italian Renaissance, tempered by the English Baroque influence of Sir Christopher Wren. The structure also retains part of an 1861 Gothic revival church originally on this spot.
