Am I eligible to join as a Member?

As long as you are over the age of 19, have held a full driving licence for a minimum of 12 months, you are eligible to join Co Wheels. However, please be aware that some further restrictions may apply:

If you are aged 25 or under, you must possess a clean licence, with 0 points or endorsements.
Applicants over the age of 26 must have no more than 6 points issued on their driving licence.
If you have been disqualified from driving at any point, you are not eligible for membership.
If you have been involved in 2 or more accidents within the last 3 years, you are not eligible for membership.
If you have had theft claims in the last three years.
If you are a professional sportsperson, model, itinerant worker or member of the entertainment profession.

Drivers that are NOT eligible to become members due to our insurance:

Provisional licence holders.
Drivers aged under 19 years
Drivers aged 24 or under when the vehicle being hired has a seating capacity of nine or more, in addition to the driver's seat.
Drivers with more than 6 points
Drivers who have held a licence for less than 12 months
Drivers under the age of 25, postcode restrictions may apply

Drivers with the following convictions on their licences will also NOT be eligible to join as they cannot be covered through our insurance:

UT50; CD30; CD40; CD50; CD60; CD70; CD71; DD40; DD60; DD80; DR10; DR20; DR30; DR31; DR40; DR50; DR60; DR61; DR70; DR80 or DR90.

Member application process

A simple outline of what happens when you apply to become a member of Co Wheels

STEP 1 - SET UP ACCOUNT

Complete your personal details online ( 10 minutes) and set up your billing account online.

The £25 Joining fee is paid at the point of signing up as a member

The Monthly Membership fee is taken from your account on 1st of each month

STEP 2 - SET UP DRIVER PROFILE

Complete your driver details for verification. This step requires you to have your driver licence to hand and apply for a DVLA code to provide to us so we can check your driving history. After this time you will receive an email confirmation to confirm if you have been verified. If you are rejected at this stage, we will explain the reason for this.

WAIT TIME - It can take up to 2 weeks wait to verify you as a driver

STEP 3 - BECOME A MEMBER AND RECEIVE SMARTCARD

Once you have been verified as a member you will receive a confirmation email and we will then send out your driver smartcard

WAIT TIME - This is posted to your address and can take up to 1 week in the post

STEP 4 - SET UP INVOICING

Once you are set-up as a member, you can choose to receive monthly invoices by asking our Customer Service team to add this facility to your account or can set up to receive ad-hoc invoices at anytime via the online booking system.

What do I pay to become a member

Joining Fee

When signing up, members pay a one-off £25 joining fee to pay for your application and smartcard.

Monthly membership

When you become a member, you pay a monthly fee to be part of the car club, giving you access to 100s of vehicles nationwide. This is £25 for under 25 year olds and £5 for 26 year olds and over.

Hire time

Once you are a member you can hire our pay-as-you-go cars to use for as little as 15 minutes. Our cars are charged per hour, from as little as £5.50 per hour. For any booking over 8 hours we automatically charge our day rate which starts from £44

Mileage

As well as our hourly fee we also charge mileage. Our mileage charges are as little as 13p per mile for electric vehicles and 23p per mile for petrol/hybrid vehicles.
