Chichester Car Club is moving up a gear with the addition of two new vehicles.
More people will be able to access a car as and when they need one, now that Co-wheels Car Club Chichester has taken on two extra cars.
The Toyota Aygo and automatic Yaris Hybrid have been funded by a grant from West Sussex County Council’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund. The new cars in Chichester are based on East Street and West Street, while the two existing vehicles have been relocated to Melbourne Road and Ettrick Road. All the vehicles can be seen on the location map.
The car club in Chichester was introduced by Chichester District Council and Co-wheels two years ago, with funding from the Department for Agricultural Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). West Sussex County Council also helped to provide the vehicles.
Volunteers in the community helped devise the scheme and the club currently has 36 members.
Club chairman, Dr Daire Casey, says: “I’m excited to see how members take advantage of our city-wide offering. The new cars look great and bring the cost of occasional motoring down even further than before. From the initial planning stages of our club, prospective members have requested that an automatic vehicle be included in the local offering. I’m delighted to be able to say that it’s now here for you.”
