How do I know if a car is 'back to zone' or 'back to bay'?
When you book a car, your booking confirmation will state whether the booking is back to bay or back to zone - you must pay particular attention to the notes on your booking confirmation.
How do I see the zones?
When booking a car you will not be able to see the zones on a map, however, you will be able to see a dropped pin for each vehicle. When you read the description for each vehicle, this description will make obvious whether the car belongs in a specific bay or a zone (and if so, where that zone is in relation to the pin that is dropped).
Can I see exactly where the car is within the zone?
You will only see exactly where the car is from 15 mins before your booking starts - so long as it is parked within the zone.
How soon before my booking starts can I see this?
You will receive an email 15 minutes prior to your booking start time detailing exactly where your car is located within the zone. There will be a static map within the email and also an option to find the car using Google maps for directions.
Can I leave the car mid-booking outside of the zone?
The car can be used as normal during your booking, it just needs to be returned to the zone rather than a bay at the end of the booking.
Does that affect how I lock the car?
During your booking, you can take the car out of the zone as you normally would, and you will be able to access, lock and unlock as normal
What happens if I leave the car outside the zone at the end of my booking?
You can never leave a car outside of its zone without first contacting member support who will assist to find a space in the zone - if a car is not reported to member support and is out of zone you will face a fine and possible suspension from service.
Do I book and access the car in the same way?
Yes, you will require your smartcard to access the cars.
What if it is an electric car and it needs to be charged?
Electric cars will always remain 'back to bay' rather than 'back to zone' so you will never need to search for a parking space with a charging post. Remember to check at the start of your journey that there is enough power for your whole journey.
What if there are no legal parking spaces available inside the zone?
Please call us on 0191 375 1050 - just like you would if your allocated bay was in use by another vehicle. You can never leave car outside its zone without first contacting member support who will assist to find a space in the zone - if a car is not reported to member support and is out of zone you will face a fine and possible suspension from service.
What do you class as a legal parking space?
You are free to park the car in any council run car park or legal on street parking bay. This means any pay and display bay or anywhere with no single or double yellow lines as long as it is not an electric or disabled bay.
How do I suggest new zones or changes to the existing zone?

Can I switch between fixed bays and back to zone cars, on a trip by trip basis?
You can switch for each booking; however, you must ensure that you are following the current return policy.
Can I see what type of car is in each of the zones?
When you go to book a car, you will be able to see on our system where all of our vehicles are, including the back to zone cars. You will also be able to see what type of vehicle is where – for example, electric, hybrid, van.
