Co-wheels is excited to be working with the North East Combined Authorities, with funding from Carplus and the Department for Transport, to bring 20 new Co-wheels cars to join the fleet.
This will include a brand new service in North Tyneside and Sunderland, as well as increasing the provision across Newcastle, Gateshead, Durham and Northumberland. The cars will be introduced over the next 12 months, and will include more electric cars as well as a range of hybrid and city cars.
The funding will also be used to examine the feasibility of integrating Co-wheels vehicle hire with the existing Pop smart travel ticket through a partnership with Nexus, which provides local transport services across the North East.
